One place to expect is windows updates.

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Confirm if any updates were installed on that date.

On the WIndows update page click on Advanced Options then Choose how updates are delivered.

On the "Chose how updates are delivered" page if the offset choice is turned on, the MS is using your calculator as a "mule" to deliver updates to other people. That would account for network utilise.

Also cheque in the Recycle bin, if someone was using your system and they were sloppy, in that location could be deleted files at that place ("sloppy" because there is an option to delete files without putting them in the recycle bin).

Hi Rohn007,

I practice not see the "Avant-garde Options" on the Windows Update History page. Is there some other method to become to the Advanced Options?

Is  there a method to view what was downloaded on 11/xvi/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used 15 GB, however, I cannot find it. I do know that information technology occurred on 11/sixteen/2017 between 5:thirty PM and 6:xxx PM.

Thanks,

Paulwayne

Hi, Paul, TCPIPView is prophylactic, I would not put you wrong . . .

Actually TCPIPView is more for monitoring your network action should this sort of thing happen again . . .

Equally for what was downloaded on eleven/16/2017 between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM

There are 2 possible ways to find that out:

1.
Open Windows File Explorer and double click on your C Drive in 'This PC'

Click in the Search Box
The Search Ribbon should become active
Click Engagement Modified drop down and cull Today
So click the blue text in the search box, a agenda will appear
Select the 16th and give information technology time to search - it can be a while

In the resulting search, you should be able to see what downloaded . . .

2.
Click your Commencement Button, type Event Viewer and hit Enter
This will open the Issue Viewer app
On the left, click the pointer abreast Windows logs to aggrandize it
For each log, click it and scroll down through the events to discover that date and time
This might give y'all some clue as to what happened at that time and what was downloaded . . .

Lamentable, misdirected you. the Avant-garde Options is on the "Update Status" folio

Sorry, I exercise not know of any way of identifying what was up or downloaded during a specific time. In that location are many utilities that can monitor yous net utilize. The problem is that most of them focus on full volume and speed. Very few provide whatsoever ID for the file or program that is doing the upwards/downwards loading.

http://www.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx#CheckHist... is ane exception I establish in a QUICK search. It at to the lowest degree identifies the program doing the traffic.

You lot will have to practise your ain search to find a better suited awarding to identify Futurity traffic.

This article tells how to employ congenital in tools to monitor network traffic, including application doing the work:

Could I email you a couple of screen shots of the event viewer and get your feedback? I actually exercise not understand what was occurring on xi/xvi/2017, merely it did last for almost 2 hours and looks a bit suspicious to me. I practice not meet a way to attach screen shots on this community web site, mayhap I can reply dorsum with the text?

Hi Paul, sorry i had to get some sleep . . .

Can you lot do one matter for me:
Click your Start Push, type winver and hit Enter
In the resulting dialog, have a note of what version No. of Windows ten you are running (1709, 1703, 1607 . . . etc.)

Due to the amount of data that has been downloaded, I am judge it was the Fall Creators Update that was downloading. If you are non running 1709, so that is the most probable scenario . . .

Of you desire to mail screenshots you can exercise that here or upload them to the deject (DropBox,OneDrive . . .etc.) and postal service a link here and I will accept a expect for you . . .
